Bershaw memorial run set for Saturday
COEUR d'ALENE — The Dwight Bershaw Memorial Point 5K fun run is scheduled 8 a.m. Saturday at McEuen Park.
Billed as "The race for the rest of us," it's a short jaunt around the park's paved path, which covers 546.8 yards, 1,6740 feet or 19,685 inches.
The event is put on by the Coeur d'Alene Sunrise Rotary Club in honor of Dwight Bershaw, who died Aug. 20, 2021, at the age of 54. He was a beloved club member and the club created a Dwight Bershaw memorial area at McEuen Park.
To be sure participants have enough fuel to navigate the course's "grueling terrain," an aid station with doughnuts and water will be set up at the halfway point.
Even for those who don't run or have no desire to do an Ironman, it's projected most people will finish in about 5 minutes.
The entry fee of $25 includes a "University of Lake Coeur d'Alene" T-shirt and a window sticker.
All proceeds go to local and international charitable causes.
Registration will available on race day.
