WSU's Rieken named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week
Washington State soccer senior Bridget Rieken, the former Lake City High standout, was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Rieken scored the game-winner in WSU’s first program win over Portland and became the second Cougar in as many weeks to earn conference weekly honors.
Rieken was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career (Sept. 6, 2021) after playing all 180 minutes with wins at Portland on Thursday night and against Weber State on Sunday afternoon. The fifth-year senior headed home the game-winning goal in the 48th minute in Portland and captained the backline to a clean sheet.
Recently, Rieken surpassed 6,000 career minutes played for the Cougs. In her time at WSU, the Cougars have earned a national semifinal finish and averaged less than a goal allowed per game.
Washington State returns to the pitch Thursday at home vs. San Diego State for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Lower Soccer Field.
