PARKING: Do the right thing

| August 27, 2023 1:00 AM

Why is it that some drivers believe that it is their right to park in a designated disabled parking spot as well as blocking curb cuts? There are folks who cannot navigate many feet to get in or out of a vehicle or leap from the street to the sidewalk. Furthermore, many of us cannot get across the intersection in the seconds allotted by the flashing “walk” sign.

Last week at Kootenai Health a driver parked in front of an entrance marked no parking, loading only, left and a few minutes later returned with her walking passenger, who may have been a heart patient or just awakened from anesthesia, but it was the wrong place to park, blocking others.

It’s not all about you, no matter what your mother told you. It’s about all of us. Do better. Help make the community safe for all.
