NIC: A dumpster fire created by trustees
Last night I chose to watch the critical televised event in our area — the public Board meeting at NIC; in particular for the last item on the agenda- the hiring of the legal counsel for NIC.
The meeting was dominated by praise and introductions for sports recruiting, staff replacement recruiting, successful fundraising and enrollment efforts, changing sports conferences and training of the board on business practices to stay out of trouble with Idaho code and our tenuous status with accreditation.
With no discussion of credentials, or lack thereof, for institutional academic law, the Banducci bandits dismissed Corkill and Zimmerman with the usual snide and abrasive overrides. The only seemingly important issue was an Idaho law license with Sandpoint sole practitioner Colton Boyles, ignoring the two Idaho licensed and a third in the works with the academic practice firm of Stevens Clay of Spokane with 12 lawyers on staff. At the same time the board majority moved to continue their contract with Art Macomber at an inflated $400 an hour, who justifies the boost from $375 an hour due to his reduced role-seriously?
Just note that we are watching our money burn with Macomber, Colton Boyles and board consultants attempting to train these Banducci trustees in an attempt to preserve North Idaho College. How much longer do we have to watch these arsonists and their inability to learn from their very own dumpster fire?
