NIC: ‘Deserves to survive and thrive’
If it isn’t clear to the community now, it should be. The troublesome triad on the Board of Trustees at NIC is determined to destroy our college. Their election of Colton Boyles all but seals the deal.
We just recently celebrated the 90th anniversary of this beloved institution. I wasn’t around in 1933, but I’ve been around Coeur d’Alene since the 1950s and have watched with pride the evolution of the college from its humble beginnings on Sherman Avenue to the Fort Grounds. The reason it has survived this long is because the people who built it, worked there and served the school, “put their politics on the shelf.” They did not interject or project their political leanings on anyone. And there was a reason for that. The college mattered more.
Coeur d’Alene has always been a place that welcomed newcomers. For decades we have had many transplants who have made a positive difference here in the Lake City. They have served, and continue to serve, on our city council, library boards, art councils, you name it. They are driven by service “to others.” That is what defines community service.
We do not appreciate, nor do we welcome, people who come here to establish their own “fiefdoms”and are driven by an insatiable need to control others, and demand obedience to their agendas, even telling them how to vote. The destruction they have reaped is obvious. Go to the meetings, watch them online, speak up. NIC deserves to survive and thrive.
