Christina Ann Mann, 70
Christina (Chris) Ann Mann, 70, a longtime resident of Coeur d’Alene, passed away peacefully May 3, 2023, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House. She was born June 6, 1952, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Gerald and Helen (Walker) Taylor.
Chris grew up in Caldwell, attending her first school in a two-room school her mother had also attended. After graduating from Caldwell High School in 1970, having married Paul Steude after graduating, she moved with Paul to California, completing his military service. Chris and Paul returned to Caldwell, eventually divorcing. Chris relocated in the late 1970s to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to her parents.
The opportunity to work as clerical staff for a North Idaho employer, Louisiana Pacific, was Chris’s first step to becoming part of the local community. Chris made many lifelong friends at Louisiana Pacific. While living in Coeur d’Alene, Chris met and married Sam Mann in 1983, having 38 wonderful years together. Chris and Sam settled into their dream home on Garden Avenue in Coeur d’Alene.
Chris took the opportunity to begin working for GTE (Verizon) and successfully advanced several administrative positions and made many good friends. Chris became a devoted stepmother to Sam’s three children and grandchildren. Both Chris and Sam enjoyed trips to visit family including Washington, D.C., California and Alaska. Attending Real Life Church provided Chris and Sam with many opportunities to make additional friends and support the Real Life community volunteer efforts.
Chris enjoyed Sam’s interest in stock car racing and NASCAR, attending races at Stateline Speedway with her racing friends. Summer trips up the Coeur d’Alene River with family and friends were always a break from the hubbub of Coeur d’Alene in the summer. Additionally, she was a “Red Hatter” and an avid reader.
Chris is survived by her father, Gerald Taylor, her brother, David Taylor, Post Falls; her aunt, Marlene Walker of Kuna, Idaho; mother-in-law Monnie Mann of Modesto, Calif.; stepchildren Sam Mann, Phillip Mann and Sheri Roberts and numerous cousins. Preceding her in death were her mother, Helen, and husband Sam.
In lieu of flowers, Chris’s family would encourage donations to Hospice of North Idaho, which provided exceptional care while she made the journey to heaven.
A celebration of life for Chris and Sam will occur Sept. 9, 2023, at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls at 11 a.m.
