BONE MARROW DONATION: A humbling gift

I had the honor to serve as an anonymous donor in 1990. At that time, I lived in the Peoples Republic. My recipient was a 26-year-old middle school teacher in Delaware. His name was Vince. With a successful transplant, Vince went on to live a full and active life for 17 years with his wife and small children.
The donor process has improved much since I made my donation (it was good then). I highly recommend anyone considering joining the registry to do so.
I support the measures to reduce inhibitors that would keep someone from volunteering to join the NMBA.
To give someone the gift of extended life is humbling. I thank God for that opportunity to serve.
