Plummer man dies in crash
A Plummer man died after being struck by a vehicle when he was walking in the northbound lane of U.S. 95 on Friday night, the Idaho State Police said.
The accident occurred about 7 near Desmet Road in Benewah County, according to ISP.
A 64-year-old Post Falls man was driving a semi-truck northbound on U.S. 95 when he struck a 34-year-old pedestrian from Plummer.
The pedestrian died at the scene, ISP said.
The roadway was blocked for about three hours.
An investigation continues.
ISP also responded to a vehicle collision about 10:45 p.m. Friday near milepost 35 on Interstate 90 in Kootenai County.
Troopers believe the driver of a Nissan Juke was westbound at a high rate of speed when it collided with a westbound Jeep Cherokee, according to an ISP press release.
The Jeep was driven by a 31-year-old woman with a 29-year-old male passenger. Both were from Spokane.
The female was transported by air ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the male passenger was transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, a press release said.
The Nissan was driven by a 24-year-old Spokane man who was arrested on probable cause for impaired driving and booked into the Kootenai County jail, the release said.
Both directions of I-90 were blocked for about three hours.
The incident remains under investigation.
