NIC SOCCER: Cardinal women fall short to Peninsula
PORT ANGELES, Wash. — North Idaho College sophomore Faith George scored an unassisted goal in the 86th minute to pull the Cardinals within a goal, but NIC was unable to push across the equalizer in a 2-1 loss to the host Peninsula Pirates in a nonconference match on Saturday.
Peninsula opened the scoring in the 17th minute on a goal by Taya Bohenko, then scored six minutes later to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.
NIC (1-1-0) faces Portland on Tuesday and Chemeketa on Wednesday in the Northwest Athletic Conference friendlies at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila, Wash.
It was the season opener for Peninsula.
