CYT's 'Music Man' opens tonight

| August 18, 2023 1:00 AM

Christian Community Theater, the branch of Christian Youth Theater North Idaho that annually includes adults and children, will present "The Music Man" at 7 tonight at the the Midge and Pepper Smock Family Theatre at The Kroc.

The show and runs through Aug. 27.

In "The Music Man," fast-talking salesman Harold Hill's heart is stolen by the town librarian. Hill cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys band that he vows to organize — this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

"By turns wicked, funny, warm, romantic and touching, 'The Music Man' is family entertainment at its best," CYT North Idaho artistic director Jessica Belisle said. "Meredith Willson's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family friendly story to be shared with every generation."

Admission prices start at $18. Tickets for children 12 and younger and seniors are $16. Group rates are available. Tickets will be $20 at the door.

The Kroc is at 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene.
