Kids archery range at North Idaho State Fair
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game announced the grand opening of a new 3-D youth archery range at the North Idaho State Fairground.
The building features six shooting stations, 12 3-D targets, Genesis compound youth bows and arrows, plenty of taxidermy for viewing, a life-size big game wall mural, a Fish and Game information booth and more.
The highlight of the range is an 8 foot long, 5 foot tall 3-D target of a velociraptor dinosaur.
The range will be operated by Fish and Game staff and volunteers to ensure the safety and teaching of proper shooting technique for all youth who wish to participate. Due to the size of the bows, shooting participation is limited to youth ages 8-17.
Please do not bring bows into the fair. Bows provided at the range are the only ones permitted for shooting.
The building will be open to the public for the duration of the 2023 North Idaho State Fair, which runs from Aug. 18-27. The public can shoot at the range each day from the time the fair opens until 8:00 p.m. or close, whichever comes first.
The new 3-D archery range was created by staff and volunteers of Fish and Game, staff with the North Idaho State Fair and funding from the National Rifle Association and Friends of the NRA through an NRA Foundation Grant. The NRA Foundation grant supplied all the targets, bows and arrows for the range.
After the fair, the range will be used for various archery classes throughout the year, offering youth in the North Idaho community the opportunity to learn the fun and valuable skill of archery.
