Dominic Simmons, 28

| August 17, 2023 1:00 AM

Dominic Marcus Simmons, our beloved son, brother, friend, cousin, nephew and grandson, passed peacefully in his sleep Aug. 11, 2023, at the age of 28 at his home in Post Falls, Idaho. Dominic was born in Rota, Spain, to Laurice Spencer-Rohrenbach and Ronnie Serlester Simmons on Oct. 12, 1994.

He spent part of his childhood living in Rota, Spain, and Sigonella, Italy, with his mother and father, then shortly after moved with his mother to Montana. Dominic then spent most of his childhood in Spokane Valley and graduated from East Valley High School on June 10, 2013. Dominic worked at the Spokane Valley Fire Department, where his attention to detail and discipline of following rules and regulations made him a valuable asset to the fire department.

Dominic was most recently employed at Cascadia Custom Molding. Dominic was well-loved, not only by his family and friends, but especially dogs. His dogs, his family’s dogs and pretty much any dog that crossed his path. He started his own dog-walking company. Dominic enjoyed walks, playing video games, listening to music, cooking and taking care of the family dogs and chickens. He gave the biggest hugs and always greeted everyone with a smile. As a child, Dominic loved horses, Pokemon, swimming and cookie-and-cream ice cream.

A caregiving and loveable young man, Dominic leaves behind his mother, Laurice Spencer-Rohrenbach, and stepfather, Tony Rohrenbach, and his father, Ronny Simmons. He is survived by his brother, Seth Rohrenbach; sister, Gracey Rohrenbach; grandmother, Dolores J. Spencer; grandmother, Aretha Moore Simmons; uncles Ken (Greg) Spencer and David (Susan) Spencer; aunt Steph (Julie) Spencer; uncles James Moore and Eddie Simmons; aunts Julia Stevens, Lucinda Miller, Sandra D. Daniel and Sheila Cumming; uncles Tim (Jeanna), Terry (Dawn), Tod (Sharon), Ted (Susan) Rohrenbach; and aunts Teresa (Greg) Espe, Tracie (Clyde) Edwards and Tamie Lake; and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert F. Spencer; grandfather, Joseph Rohrenbach; grandmother, Karon Jacklin; and grandfather Julain Simmons.

Dominic is missed very much by his pug, “Clark.” And in the wise words of Pokemon: “You see, sometimes friends have to go away, but a part of them stays behind with you.” Memorial Services are planned for Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at 4 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St. Post Falls, ID.

Donations may be made in memory of Dominic to Companions Animal Center, P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835.
