Fire near Silverwood

Level 3 "GO NOW" evacuation orders are in place for residents of Sarah Loop due to a vegetation fire burning northwest of Silverwood.

The fire has burned roughly 60 acres half a mile east of North Targhee Street and East Sarah Loop in Athol. Timberlake Fire Protection District has taken the lead. Multiple units from Northern Lakes Fire and from throughout the area are also responding. Air support is being pulled from the Ridge Creek Fire in Hayden Creek to combat the blaze in addition to eight aircraft and one chinook helicopter.

"They have evacuated some homes up there," Northern Lakes spokesman Chris Larson told The Press. "This is an ongoing, moving, active fire."

The Level 3 "GO NOW" status instructs residents to take the evacuation steps necessary to give their families and homes the best chance of surviving.

Fire crews are requesting the sheriff's office to evacuate the RV park at 5200 Highway 54. Idaho State Police will be shutting down Highway 54 in that area.

Real Life Ministries North Campus is open and available as a shelter, for parking, safety and bathrooms.

"We have people willing to help evacuate animals as well," Real Life Ministries said on social media. "Please spread the word and let people know it is open at: 30447 N. Roughstock Rd., Athol, ID 83801."
