McDaniel, Jones to lead NIC music performance group
COEUR d'ALENE — North Idaho College’s Music Department announced that Stan McDaniel and Terry Jones will be leading NIC’s performance groups starting this fall semester.
Both musical leaders are passionate about their art and passionate about serving students, said Joe Jacoby, NIC Division Chair of Communication and Fine Arts.
McDaniel will lead the Cardinal Chorale choir. He has an extensive background in directing choirs in our area, serving as artistic director of Chorale Coeur d’Alene (formerly the Northwest Sacred Music Chorale) and as a longtime choir and music director for Spokane-area churches. McDaniel has a Doctor of Musical Arts in Sacred Music and Conducting and is deeply committed to providing opportunities for singers to sing and perform in groups.
Jones will return to lead Cardinal Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble groups. Jones led these groups, along with the Cardinal Pep Band for more than 30 years, and NIC is thrilled to have him back this fall Jacoby said.
“Dr. McDaniel and Terry are both highly respected in the area music community and their guidance will ensure the continued growth of skills in NIC’s musical performing groups,” Jacoby said. “If you desire to sing or to play with a musical group, you don’t want to miss working with these talented, supportive, skilled leaders.”
North Idaho College has several performance groups, including the Cardinal Chorale, Cardinal Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble and Cardinal Voices. Students and community members can sign up to participate in any of NIC’s music performance groups for college credit, but each group is also open to the public.
