VIOLATORS: Too many motorized vehicles on trails

I’m writing in complete support of today’s piece from Anne Sedgwick, “VEHICLES: A danger to bicyclists, pedestrians on trails.”

There are far too many motorized vehicles disguised as bicycles, speeding along without the need to peddle, going more than 20-plus mph on all of the local trails. The majority of these “riders” — not peddlers — have no knowledge of proper protocol when passing others and they create a major potential hazard.

I’ve called the Coeur d’Alene police to report violators in hopes that a police presence on or near the trails will help get things under control before there is a major incident.
