Spirit Lake man dies in crash

A Spirit Lake man died in a motorcycle crash early Thursday morning.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Lucas Fahey, 41, was northbound on a Suzuki GSX on Huetter Road headed toward Boekel Road when he lost control while navigating a curve and hit a fence and telephone pole.

Despite lifesaving efforts by KCSO deputies and Northern Lakes Fire District personnel, he died at the scene.

Fahey was wearing a helmet. Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident, KCSO said.

An investigation continues.
