Post Falls man dies on Lake Coeur d’Alene

COEUR d'ALENE — A Post Falls man was found dead in Lake Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a sailboat washed ashore at the Higgens Point day-use area east of the boat launch about 5 p.m.

Within an hour of the initial call, marine deputies found a man, later identified as John Ryan, 82, facedown on the surface of the water, a press release said.

Ryan was brought onboard a sheriff’s vessel but was already deceased.

"It does appear Ryan was the only person onboard the sailboat," the release said.

An investigation continues.
