LEGION BASEBALL: Lums third at Northwest Regionals
HAVRE, Mont. — The Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen 17U team's bid to play for a regional championship came up one game short Tuesday.
The Lums built a 7-1 lead after three innings, but SunWest Legion of Redmond, Ore., scored nine runs in the third inning to take the lead for good and Coeur d'Alene fell 12-7 in a semifinal game in the Northwest ‘A’ American Legion baseball tournament.
Tanner Franklin hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the second inning for Lums, who scored five times in the inning to build a 5-1 lead.
Will Robson had a two-run double in the third inning for Coeur d’Alene, which finished 35-11.
Later Tuesday, the Redmond team beat the Service Cougars of Anchorage, Alaska 8-6 to win the tournament title.
Regionals are the end of the road for Legion teams in class A.
