YOUTH BASEBALL: Lums 17U team reaches final three at regionals
HAVRE, Mont. — The Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen 17U team made two third-inning runs stand up in a 2-1 victory over the Powell (Wyo.) Pioneers in a loser-out game at the American Legion Northwest “A” Regional Tournament on Monday.
Coeur d’Alene will play Redmond (Ore.) SunWest today at 11 a.m. in a loser-out game, with the winner playing the Service (Alaska) Cougars in the championship game to follow.
With two out in the third, Noah Hawkins singled, stole second and scored on a single by Charlie Dixon. Mark Holecek singled to center field, and Dixon scored on an error on the play.
Dixon and Tanner Franklin each finished with two hits for the Lums. Holecek pitched a complete game, striking out five, walking one and scattering seven hits.

LITTLE LEAGUE
Coeur d’Alene will play Anchorage, Alaska, on Wednesday at noon on ESPN in a semifinal game of the Northwest Regional tournament in San Bernardino, Calif.
Anchorage lost 9-0 to Northeast Seattle on Monday.
Coeur d'Alene lost 10-2 to Anchorage in the tourney opener on Saturday.
Northeast Seattle will play the Coeur d’Alene-Anchorage winner on Thursday at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 for the regional title and a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
