Bomar finishes second
in Oregon Open
PGA Professional Billy Bomar, who won the 2015 Senior Oregon Open, finished runner-up at the event, which concluded on Thursday Wildhorse Resort and The Golf Course at Birch Creek.
Bomar of Post Falls finished with an 11-under par 205 in the tournament. PGA Professional Ryan Malby of Kalispell, Mont., won his second straight title with 68-65-68-201. Bomar carded a final round 65.
Pat O'Donnell of Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Ore., was the low amateur, finishing in a tie for third place.
Washington State to face
Boise State in Spokane
The Washington State men’s basketball team will face Boise State on Dec. at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, as part of the Numerica Holiday Hoops 2023 supporting Numerica CARES for Kids, the organizations announced in partnership with the Spokane Chiefs and Brett Sports.
The Cougars and Broncos have maintained a neutral site matchup, each of the last two seasons, with BSU taking the victory at Spokane Arena in 2021 and Boise in 2022. This season’s game will mark the first time in program history with WSU and BSU meeting for three consecutive seasons.
“We look forward to facing Boise State again this season,” Washington State coach Kyle Smith said. “It’s a great opportunity to host a competitive game in front of our Spokane fans and raise funds for a worthwhile cause like Numerica CARES for Kids.”
Washington State and Boise State have met eight times in the programs’ histories, with a 4-4 all-time series record. Each of the last three times the teams have faced off, both programs have reached the postseason. In November 2007, the Cougs defeated Boise State in Boise, en route to an NCAA Tournament berth. Each of the past two seasons, Wazzu has earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament, while Boise State clinched NCAA Tournament spots.
Harden joins men's hoops

Jeremy Harden joined the Washington State men’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach, Cougar head coach Kyle Smith announced . Harden joins the Washington State following one season at Idaho and five seasons as the head coach at Wenatchee Valley College.
Harden brings over 10 years of college coaching experience to Washington State. While leading from 2017-2022, he led the Knights to a 95-35 (.730) overall record and five consecutive winning seasons. Harden's most recent success came in the 2021-22 season, guiding Wenatchee Valley to a Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) East Region title and an NWAC Final Four appearance. Harden was named East Region Coach of the Year, while the team held the best regional record (15-1) and was the No. 1 scoring offense (93.1 PPG).
In his time at Wenatchee Valley, Harden earned a pair of East Region NWAC championships, leading the conference in field goal percentage (.530) and made 3-pointers (13 per game). In 2019, Harden led the Knights to the highest points per game (84.96) average in over 20 years and guided Wenatchee Valley back to the postseason for the first time in four years.
