Opera Truck performances this weekend in Spokane
Inland Northwest Opera will present two annual Opera Truck Performances. The first will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, 2316 W. First Ave., Spokane. The following performance will open at 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at Kendall Yards-Olmsted Brothers Green, 441 N. Nettleton St., Spokane. Both performances are free and open to the public.
“These annual Opera Truck performances are a great way for audiences of all ages to experience the beauty of opera and the best singers of our area,” new general director of Inland Northwest Opera Max Mendez said. “Our artistic director, Dan Wallace Miller, has assembled some great singers for our upcoming performances. You don’t want to miss our incredible local talent."
The Inland Northwest Opera truck was the brainchild of former executive director Dawn Wolski to bring live performances to Spokane during the COVID-19 lockdown. She, along with the design team of Mateusz Wolski, Arthur Heaton, Melody Heaton and Justin Schmidt, renovated a 14-foot box truck to enable INO to create engaging outdoor performances for audiences of all ages. Since then, INO’s Opera Truck has performed to thousands of audience members. Many have their first opera experience through the Opera Truck performances.
Inland Northwest Opera produced operatic productions for over 23 years, including the Opera-tunities education outreach programs, Opera Cruises, Opera Truck performances and, of course, main-stage productions bringing both international and local voices to the region's stages.
