Panida presents August lineup
The Panida Theater in Sandpoint announced the August event lineup featuring live performances and a surprise summer film.
Coming up through the month of August:
• An Evening with the legendary Richard Thompson at 8 p.m. Aug. 9, sponsored by Too Far North Productions. "The finest rock songwriter after Dylan; the best electric guitarist since Hendrix," according to the Los Angeles Times. Thompson holds a coveted spot on Rolling Stone's top 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
• Enchanting Music Tales of the Sandpoint Music Conservatory at 5 p.m. Aug. 11. A performance by the summer academy orchestra and choir, a donation-based event with proceeds going to the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint.
• Surprise Summer Film, sponsored by Bonner Title, at 7 p.m. Aug. 16. The film won’t be announced until it starts and will be rated PG-13 and is about an archaeologist who has a snake phobia. Price specials include $5 tickets, half-off bar drinks and $1 popcorn.
• The Travelin McCoury’s bluegrass concert at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25. Rolling Stone called them “a sublime combination of rock and bluegrass, contemporary and classic, old and young.” Just before COVID-19 hit, they were honored by the International Bluegrass Music Association as the Instrumental Group of the Year, and with a Grammy for Bluegrass Album of the Year.
