Police seize fentanyl pills, meth after traffic stop
POST FALLS — Police arrested two people and seized thousands of fentanyl pills after a Monday night traffic stop, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
A sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop late Monday in the area of Pleasant View Road and I-90. The deputy reportedly “observed drug paraphernalia in plain view” inside the stopped vehicle.
A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded 67 grams of methamphetamine and around 2,500 fentanyl pills.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that’s more powerful than morphine. Last year, 24 people died in Kootenai County due to fentanyl-related overdoses, according to Idaho State Police.
Police arrested the driver, 36-year-old Spokane resident David M. Foster, as well as the passenger, Lisett D. Whitaker, 31, of Billings, Mont.
Foster faces charges of drug trafficking and possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver.
Whitaker is charged with possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also wanted on a warrant out of Montana, police said.
