PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene's Judson repeats as Inland Empire champ

SPOKANE — Sophomore Connor Judson repeated as No. 2 boys singles champion, one of four players from Coeur d’Alene High to bring home medals Saturday from the Inland Empire Tournament, which attracted more than 50 teams from Washington and Idaho.

Judson defeated Axel Fulton of West Valley-Yakima 6-0, 6-1 in the title match.

Viking senior Turner Cox defeated Tate Thatcher from Lewis and Clark 6-1, 7-5 to take third place in No. 1 boys singles.

Coeur d’Alene seniors CJ Giao and Gabe Danser defeated Ashton Pruneda and Forrest Roylance from Othello 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 for third place in No. 2 boys doubles.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Coeur d’Alene senior Kytriana Burrell won the 200-meter dash in 26.00 seconds and was second in the 100 in 12.56, leading the Viking girls to a fourth-place finish in the Legends Invitational at Dave Klicker Track at Walla Walla High.

Coeur d’Alene freshman Olivia May was second in the 3,200 in 11:34.89 and third in the 1,600 in 5:12.44. Viking junior Madison Mitchell was third in the 300 hurdles in 48.64 and sophomore Kelsey Carroll took third in the discus at 123 feet, 4 inches.

Lake City senior Trevor Cogley, who recently signed to run track and field at Boise State, won the 400 in 48.70. Cogley was third in the 200 in 22.37.

The Lakeland boys 4x100 relay team of Thomas Calder, Nick Nowell, Terry Edwards and Weston Saputski finished second, but broke the school record in 42.77, eclipsing the previous mark of 43.55 set in 2016. Edwards also set the school record in the 400, finishing third in 50.22. The previous record was set in 2008 by Jake Price (50.70). Lakeland senior Preston Jeffs was third in the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 3 inches.

Lake City sophomore Hazel Kunkel was third in the 800 in 2:24.91.

Boise swept the team titles.
