Richard Leroy Hampton, 80

Richard Leroy Hampton, 80, of Moyie Springs, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in Kellogg, Idaho. He was born June 24, 1942, in Seattle, Wash., the son of Ott and Mildred (Weaton) Weidum.

Following the death of his parents, Ott and Mildred Weidum, he grew up in Redmond, Wash., and graduated from High School in Redmond.

Following High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961, working as a mechanic until being honorably discharged in 1965. He married Edwina Hampton in 1983 and worked as a welder fabricator in Seattle. The family moved to Idaho in 1978 and he purchased farmland in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Richard enjoyed farming and tinkering with equipment on the farm. Edwina and their two sons enjoyed the farm life after leaving Seattle, until she passed away in 2004.

He is survived by his two sons; Harold Hampton of Post Falls, Idaho, and Glenn Hampton of Spokane, Wash.
