Disability Action Center in PF to celebrate 30 years May 1
Disability Action Center Northwest will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an open house from 4-6 p.m. May 1 at 3726 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls.
The public is invited to tour the office, enjoy free refreshments, see assistive technology demonstrations and learn about how the Disability Action Center helps people with disabilities be independent.
Disability Action Center NW started in 1993. It works for changes at community, state and national levels to remove barriers for people with disabilities. In 2016, it advocated with the city of Coeur d’Alene to build the accessible trail at Tubbs Hill and kayak dock at Atlas Park.
“We are excited about our newest project,” Executive Director Mark Leeper said. "We have the ability to offer veteran-directed care to our local vets with disabilities that qualify. With this program, they can receive home and community services they need in a consumer-directed way.”
Information about this and other programs and services will be available at the open house.
A nonprofit partly funded by federal and state grants, the Disability Action Center purchased its own building in Post Falls in 2014.
