Michael 'Mike' Earl Decker, 73
Michael “Mike” Earl Decker, 73, of Prichard, Idaho, passed away April 23, 2023, at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Mike was born Jan. 5, 1950, in Coeur d’Alene, a son of the late Francis and Bernice (Conway) Decker.
After high school, Mike enlisted in the Marines and served in Vietnam until his honorable discharge. Mike was very proud of his service in the Marines and the fact that four of his five immediate family members had also been fellow Marines. He attended the University of Idaho and earned his degree in business. He worked in the foundry industry in Spokane, Wash., before moving to Moses Lake, Wash., where he and his brother, Steven, started and ran D & L Foundry.
On Nov. 2, 1991, Mike was united in marriage to Mary Ann. He and Mary Ann enjoyed living in Moses Lake until 1994, when they decided to sell their house and move to Prichard, Idaho. They later bought and ran the North Fork Café in Prichard. After that adventure, Mike decided to go back to logging and owned and operated Mike Decker Trucking.
Together, the couple was very involved with the Prichard/Murray Volunteer Fire Department. Mike and Mary Ann were extremely proud of the Prichard Community. Mary Ann passed away March 28, 2022.
Mike enjoyed the outdoors and took interest in duck hunting and fishing. He was also a big classic car enthusiast.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Mary Ann Decker, Mike is preceded in death by a brother, Steve Decker.
Survivors include his brother. Robert “Bob” Decker of Prichard, Idaho; four children, David Quimby (Bernie) of Rathdrum, Idaho, Ryan Quimby (Valerie) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Dawn (Dan) Thompson of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Marlena Decker of Tacoma, Wash.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Prichard/Murray Fire Hall. Everyone is welcome. Food and drinks will be provided.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Prichard/Murray Volunteer Fire Department at 21109 Coeur d’Alene River Road, Wallace, ID 83873.
