Dance Like the Divaz competition set for May 6
The Blazen Divaz performance group is hosting a dance competition to raise money for breast cancer screening vouchers.
Dance Like the Divaz will be held from 5-8 p.m. May 6 at the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, 209 E. Sherman Ave., Coeur d'Alene.
Guests will watch the Divaz perform several of their award-winning dance routines, then have opportunities to compete in a dance-off to vie for trophies in four categories. Each category will be demonstrated by the Divaz, followed by choreography instruction for those who wish to compete. Winners will then perform a dance-off finale for a grand prize.
All proceeds will go to Panhandle Health District to provide vouchers to help community members who need breast cancer screenings.
Panhandle Health has managed the privately funded breast cancer screening vouchers since 2017, providing approximately 200 vouchers since that time. The vouchers are funded through donations made by organizations in the community, but those donations and fundraisers have dropped off over the last few years. Panhandle Health provides management of the funds and acts as the third-party payer for voucher recipients. These vouchers serve those who do not qualify for federally funded breast cancer screening program, due to age or not fitting income requirements.
Tickets are $30 and available at the Coeur d'Alene Eagles.
