PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene powers past Post Falls in tennis

POST FALLS — Coeur d’Alene won in straight sets in boys singles, girls singles and mixed doubles to top Post Falls 10-2 in a dual on Wednesday at Post Falls High.

Post Falls swept in girls doubles matches.

Coeur d’Alene faces Lake City today, with boys matches at Coeur d’Alene High and girls matches at Lake City High.

Post Falls will compete in the Inland Empire Classic in Spokane Friday and Saturday.

LEWISTON — The visiting Hawks dropped a pair of Inland Empire League games to the Bengals late Tuesday at Church Field.

In the opener, Lakeland got RBIs from Raiston Ellwood, Jace Cooksey and Hans Pluid, scoring twice in the seventh inning.

“It was the cleanest game we’ve played all year and a good ballgame,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. “We had chances to score all game long, but couldn’t get the hits we needed.”

Brice Bensching drove in five runs for Lewiston in the second game.

Lakeland (3-15, 2-10 IEL) committed six errors in the second game.

“We have to keep our nose to the grindstone and start believing we can win these games,” Bradbury said. “I believe in this team.”

Lakeland hosts Sandpoint in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Lewiston (11-9, 7-7) travels to Coeur d’Alene for a doubleheader on Saturday.
