Ward, a graduate student from Coeur d'Alene High, was named Pac-12 Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced. Ward, a mid-semester transfer from Montana, has set the school record in the hammer throw three times this season, including twice last weekend. He opened the weekend with a winning throw of 213 feet, 10 inches at the Mines Mini Meet, breaking his previous record of 213-8 that was set on Apr. 8. He bested his mark at the Fum McGraw Power Meet in Fort Collins, heaving a top mark of 217-7. Ward is seventh in the conference in the hammer and 18th in the NCAA West Region. Ward also competed in the discus in Fort Collins, finishing second with a throw of 176-4.

Lewis-Clark State golf
Currie, a junior from Lake City High, was named to the All-Cascade Conference team following the conference championships on Wednesday in Creswell, Ore. Currie finished 11th in the tournament with a score of 80-80-81—241.
ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Lewis-Clark State had 42 spring student-athletes named Academic All-Cascade Conference, the school announced. To be named, a student-athlete must maintain a grade point average of 3.2 or higher, and be at least a sophomore in standing. Locals named included track and field athletes sophomore Ian Gardom (Timberlake), sophomore Carter Gordon (Lake City), senior Abigail Peightal (Timberlake), senior Brooklyn Shell (Coeur d'Alene) and junior golfer Kyla Currie (Lake City). Haley Loffer, a graduate student softball player from Lake City, was also named to the list.
