Christian Luke Masten, 25

| April 27, 2023 1:00 AM

Christian Luke Masten was born June 20, 1997, and passed away unexpectedly April 4, 2023.

A lifelong Coeur d’Alene resident, as a child Christian loved to fish, play Little League baseball, ride bikes and play video games with his many friends, especially Eli Barclay and Dylan Thomas, who became like brothers to him. He looked up to his older siblings and loved to play and travel with them. Time spent on family vacations and outings was very special. After high school, Christian worked at various jobs before settling in at Lifecare Center of Post Falls, where he learned to cook and trained as a CNA. He made many new friends there and that is where, in December 2019, he met his best friend, Mariane Bustarde. His time spent with her and her family in the Philippines last year was truly one of the happiest times of his life.

Christian had a loving and generous spirit and was always there to help friends in need. Be it emotional support or financial aid he gave with his heart expecting nothing in return. His passing leaves a huge void in this world.

Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished but to live in the hearts of those who loved us is not to die.

Christian is survived by his parents, Don and Wendy Masten, siblings Annika and Nicholas of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, grandparents John and Ruth Masten of Hayden, Idaho, as well as many other relatives in North Idaho/Utah, and those in New Zealand he never got a chance to meet.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 19, at 1 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene Idaho.
