VOTE AGAINST GOVERNMENT OVERREACH: Support Meyer and McCrea
One of the reasons I was attracted to Idaho was freedom. My husband was born and raised in Idaho, and wanted to live somewhere that supported the Second Amendment. I was attracted to the homeschool freedoms we have in Idaho. I believe in medical freedom, and even though we moved to Idaho before COVID, I was grateful we lived here during COVID.
Speaking of government overreach, have you seen this quote from Tim Plass, a candidate for library trustee? “Kootenai County libraries can simply follow the unchanging morality established by the Ten Commandments that has been our basis of morality since the USA was founded. If some families want a different morality basis, they can go over to libraries in Washington.” I pay taxes for my library district, but I am not allowed to use them, because I might not share the same values as Plass? I live five minutes away from the Post Falls library and my three children enjoy seeing the familiar faces there, but I am not allowed to use it?
All books have a place in our libraries. Yes, Mr. Plass, contrary to your belief, the library does own many versions of Huckleberry Finn, Little House on the Prairie series, and all the other beloved classics we enjoyed as children. The library also owns Dr. Seuss, Roald Dahl and other children’s books the far left folks love to hate on.
I am very skeptical when the government tries to tell me they know what’s best for my family. I support all voices who demand representation in our public libraries; I do not support voices who want to erase the very existence of a perspective they disagree with. I will be voting for Judy Meyer and Regina McCrea on May 16.
