CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Show students and teachers they are valued
I am a product of Coeur d’Alene public schools, a teacher’s daughter, and the parent of three students. The levy passed for the first time in 1986, the year I started first grade at Dalton. It has passed every two years since.
My experience in our schools made me who I am today. I learned that I love science and math. I learned that I was pretty bad at drawing and public speaking. I was an OK runner, but I loved being a part of the team. I learned to love reading and books. I learned how to handle conflict and to be a friend. I learned how to learn. I am now a professional and a small business owner in this community. There are a lot of us, Coeur d’Alene School District graduates that have chosen to come back to give our children the same opportunities we had.
The way Idaho schools are funded is confusing and should be better. But our kids are in school right now. They have no time to waste, especially since we have already lost more than two years to the pandemic. Nobody likes taxes, but they are a responsibility and a necessity of a thriving community. Idaho does not fully fund education. The district is immaculately transparent about every single dollar. It’s all there to see on the district website. They are not lying. Please show our students and teachers that you value them. That you value their futures and the future of our community.
