Glenwood LaVern Waddell, 86

Glenwood “Glen” LaVern Waddell passed in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on June 8, 2022. Glen was born May 17, 1936, in Mott, N.D., to Emma (Renkin) and Archie “Harold” Waddell. Glen had two brothers, Ted and Marvin, and two sisters, Florence (White) and Betty (Ferrell).

Glen left Clark Fork High School to join the Marines at 16 years of age. After joining the Marines, Glen served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. Upon discharge, Glen decided to relocate to Coeur d’Alene. Once Glen was settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, he married Margie Kiser and together they had two sons, Jerry and Monte. Glen was a hard worker and enjoyed many endeavors. He worked in the construction industry and drove a cement dump truck. Later, he leased a gas station and partnered with Ray Mitchell to open Fourth Street Auto Parts. Glen eventually started an excavation business. He would rent the equipment and bid projects with major asphalt companies around the Northwest. Glen divorced Margie Kiser in 2007 after 49 years of marriage. He then resided with Cheryl Dodson until her death in 2016.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Harold Waddell, his siblings, Ted Waddell, Marvin Waddell and Florence (White), and his son, Jerry Waddell.

Glen is survived by his younger sister, Betty Ferrell, his son, Monte Waddell, and his granddaughter, Angie Hirzel.

A life celebration will be held Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m. at Lake City Community Center 1916 N. Lakewood Drive, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
