CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes
Dear Coeur d’Alene neighbors, on behalf of our community’s future, I compel you to educate yourself about our upcoming levy. Vote yes for CDA schools on May 16.
I am a grandparent to four students and mom to a teacher in District 271. I have volunteered in my daughter’s class of 24 kindergartners and witnessed firsthand that she is so much more than just a teacher. She is a comforter, nurse, friend, comedian, hugger, protector, guide and advocate. She discovers each child’s learning background early each September. Some can read at a second-grade level while some have never held a pencil or scissors. Some need special attention, cheering up, or boundaries. All are learning how to read, add, subtract, share, be kind, take turns and listen well. This particular group of students need full day kindergarten! Each of my grandchildren are deeply connected to their teachers in the same way my daughter’s students are connected to her. These connections matter and set the stage for a lifetime.
Maybe you didn’t vote, or you voted no. Maybe you are new to Idaho and don’t understand how things work here. Maybe you didn’t realize we have been supporting our students with this levy since 1986. Please don’t ruin it for the future without taking the time to educate yourself! Go to the website; it is all here: https://www.cdaschools.org/levy. It is worth every penny of the tiny tax increase — $6 per month.
With our grandchildren in mind,
LISA and MICHAEL VESCIANO
