Idaho gas prices rise, remain below U.S. average
Idaho gas prices rose slightly this week, but so far, drivers in the Gem State are avoiding the bigger surge happening elsewhere in the country.
The average price for a gallon of regular in Idaho is $3.57, according to AAA. That’s three cents more than a week ago but seven cents less than a month ago.
Meanwhile, the national average is $3.67 per gallon — seven cents more than a week ago and 21 cents more than a month ago.
AAA attributes the higher pump prices to the elevated cost of crude oil.
“High crude prices will give us grief for the foreseeable future and as colder states like Idaho start thawing out, fuel demands will rise and increase the upward pressure on gas prices here,” said Matthew Conde, AAA Idaho Public Affairs director.
Idaho ranks 20th in the country for most expensive fuel, according to AAA.
