SAVE LIBRARIES: Vote for McCrea and Meyer
If the political and legal mess at NIC bothers you, if you don’t like seeing your tax dollars wasted on lawyers, then please help us prevent the same thing from happening at our local libraries (which are facing a potential legal battle over censorship). On May 16 voters will choose two people for the Community Library Network board (they set policy for Post Falls, Hayden, Athol, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake, Pinehurst, Harrison, and the Bookmobile) — this election is of critical importance to our community.
If you support the freedom of speech; if you are against censorship; if you don’t want the government or some Orwellian “citizen committee” deciding what you can read; then PLEASE vote to re-elect Judy Meyer and Regina McCrea (just remember M & M). We need fiscal responsibility and common sense solutions, not fear-driven censorship.
In the meantime, visit your local library branch and see what’s new. Did you know you can check out a drone, metal detector, telescope, microscope, electronics, board games, kitchen gadgets like a food dehydrator, tools for crafts and hobbies, and educational toys for kids? If not, ask a librarian about Library of Things and Full STEAM Ahead. Ask about the Libby App (free ebooks and digital audiobooks), homeschool programs (sign up for the newsletter), and all the great clubs, fun events, and free classes they offer. Our libraries contribute a lot to this community — please help us save them from a hostile takeover.
