REPUBLICANS: Some respect lost
I used to respect Republicans. I have many Republican friends. I believe in the Constitution and its amendments, all of them. I believe government should not interfere with people’s constitutional rights. Family rights, things promoting the public welfare. I respected many Republican values. Now I see Republicans passing all kinds of restrictions and bannings, making laws against such things as birth control, health science, human nature, and things that are so rare as to be ignored by all but scientific experts. Vaccination or mask mandates? No way. Make laws (which are mandates), against mandates. They are assuming the traits of the Taliban. Fascism. Government control. Will they also mandate a law that everyone goes to church? This church? That church?
I fully expect that some Republican legislator will soon introduce a law against birth control: diaphragms, foam, condoms, and oh, naturally vasectomies or tubal ligatures, to be punishable by fines and lawsuits, if not prosecution. Oh, and vaccinations? They very well could make vaccinations illegal, and woe to the poor new student who accidentally goes into the wrong bathroom at school, causing a fine of $5,000.
No, I’m sorry, I can no longer abide the foolishness, brazen imagination of the Republican Party, especially in my home state, which was always a haven of “republican” democracy.
