Nancy T. Ladyman, 87
Nancy T. Ladyman, of Coeur d'Alene, lived a full and content life her way. She was independent and strong, while being loving and caring — and super witty. She died Wednesday, April 5, at the amazing age of 87. Nancy was born a twin Dec. 5, 1935, in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Nelson and Josephine (Dunning) Peckham. She is survived by her only son, Brian B. Ladyman, his wife, Tracy Ladyman, and their children, Bennet and Greta. She also has seven surviving nieces and nephews. Her older sister, Lois, and her twin, Carol, preceded her in death.
Nancy grew up in New York, attended the University of Maryland, and moved to Germany after graduation, where she met and married her husband, Brian W. Ladyman, in 1962. They then lived near Liverpool in England, and eventually moved to Forest Hills, New York City, where she worked at a law firm in Manhattan. Her son, Brian, was born in 1967 and, when he was of school age, the family moved to Spokane, Wash. There Nancy was a homemaker raising her son and taking care of a house and a lake place at Newman Lake. In 1997, she divorced and absolutely loved calling Coeur d'Alene her home for most of her remaining years. In 2022, for health reasons, she moved to be near her son and his family in Issaquah, Wash.
Later in life, she took up golf and loved being out on the course where you could always hear her laugh, or a surprise shriek if something bad or good happened. She also loved to watch golf on TV and knew all the top players. She had an amazing smile, quick wit, an infectious laugh and the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. She told things like they were with a genuine and direct New York-communication style. Nancy was super proud of her 37 years of sobriety. Her favorite expression was, "Are we having fun yet?"
Nancy was cremated and there will be a small family ceremony at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene. Friends are invited to share memories and sign the family's online guestbook at www.flintofts.com.
