ABORTION: Unborn need more protection

| April 16, 2023 1:00 AM

Abortion by definition is the killing of an unborn baby. It is truly heartbreaking that abortion has continued to be legal for 50 years since the Roe v. Wade supreme court case. Whether or not an unborn baby is a person is not in question here. Any doctor will tell you that an unborn baby is indeed a person. What is in question here is why our legislators seem to have better things to do than to care about lives being slaughtered day after day. Our declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.

Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” So, what our government is doing by legalizing abortion is violating what our declaration of Independence says about everyone having a right to life.

Our legislators do not provide equal protection for unborn babies. For example, if a mother murdered her month-old baby, she would go to jail for murder. However, if she swallows a pill to chemically abort her baby, she doesn’t face any criminal charges. Does that seem fair to you?

We’re supposed to be the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Yet a mom can murder her child for any reason. What we need to do is see that unborn babies receive the same rights as born babies. This is our duty.
