NIC: A great Cd’A institution at risk
The time I spent in Coeur d’Alene is the best 25-year chapter of my life. Raised a son, worked on the lake, and really enjoyed the area. One thing I always revered was North Idaho College. Pristine lakefront, nice campus, hard working students scurrying about, and a real good athletic program.
You can imagine my dismay while listening to NPR this morning to hear about how the college is at risk. Colleges, by their very nature, exist to understand and learn from a diversity of thoughts, ideas and opinions. How is Todd Banducci and his band of merrymen being allowed to suffocate all that is good and pure about the college.
The one place in the whole area that celebrates diversity on a daily basis is the college. Christenson Gymnasium filled with athletes and fans of all colors and ethnicities on game night is as close to a shrine as there has ever been in Coeur d’Alene. And this is at risk? Two years of accredited college for your kids is at risk?
I always knew and feared that following right wing lunatics would come at a steep price. Come on Todd, you broke it, you have to fix it.
