COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Joe DuCoeur hit a two-run home run in the first inning of the first game for Lake City, which held off the Sandpoint Bulldogs 6-4 in the opening game of an Inland Empire League twinbill on Wednesday at Lake City High.
Eric Bumbaugh scored two runs in the first game for Lake City. Karl Schwarzer and Nate Weatherhead combined to strike out seven for the Timberwolves.
Kody MacDonald drove in two runs in the opener for Sandpoint.
In the nightcap, Cooper Smith hit a three-run home run in the first inning as the Timberwolves beat the Bulldogs 13-2 to finish the sweep.
Bumbaugh and Jake Dannenberg had two RBIs each for Lake City (9-4, 8-0 IEL), which hosts Lewiston in a doubleheader on Saturday.
Sandpoint (2-8, 0-6) visits Timberlake next Tuesday.
