MATTOON: Letter was ‘extreme rhetoric’

I was really shocked that our local newspaper would publish the awful letter from Carolyn Mattoon. I am in favor of people exercising their First Amendment rights but her letter calling the largest political segment in North Idaho terrorists was pure unadulterated hate speech. The irony should not have escaped anyone that the editorial above it was all about loving, caring and respecting one another and striving to do better and be better. Ms. Mattoon put her letter on her Facebook page but disabled her comments. I’m sure we can all guess why. My suggestion would be that she seems quite unhappy with living in the midst of Republicans. There are states quite close to ours where she might feel more comfortable so as not to have to rub shoulders with “terrorists.” I feel sad that our local paper would endorse such violent and extreme rhetoric.
