Candidates invited to submit info to 411 voter guide

| April 12, 2023 1:00 AM

Members of the League of Women Voters of Kootenai County (LWVKC) are asking all May 16 election candidates to submit information, free of charge, in their own words, with their own photos, links and videos to the Vote411.org public voter guide.

Invitations have been sent to all candidates. The candidates’ responses are scheduled to be published on the Vote411.org website by April 20. Candidates’ own words and materials will be used, with a few simple rules for etiquette and decorum.

“Local governments affect voters even more than faraway national politics," LWVKC member Lisa Schaff said in a Monday news release. "These local elections are critical to our everyday life.”

Vote411.org is a non-partisan, national database indexed by address and zip code with information on candidates in contested races, voting rules, ballot issues and other resources for voters in each area.

The position of Community Library Network trustee is on the May 16 ballot. The Community Library Network governs all libraries in Kootenai County except the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.

The Mica Kidd Island Fire Protection District, Coeur d'Alene School District and Lakeland Joint School District have also been added to the election.

Other contested elections in specific taxing districts include: Kootenai hospital trustees; Lakes Highway District commissioner Subdistrict 3; Post Falls Highway commissioner Subdistrict 3; and Worley Highway District commissioner Subdistrict 1.
