Trustees of the Coeur d'Alene School Board will discuss the new gender-specific bathroom law Gov. Brad Little signed March 22 during a special workshop at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Midtown Meeting Center.

The law, which goes into effect July 1, prohibits students who identify as transgender from using multi-person bathrooms, locker rooms and overnight accommodations that don't align with their biological gender.

Vice Chair Casey Morrisroe has drafted a policy regarding this new law, as well as Trustee Allie Anderton, which should be posted in the Tuesday meeting materials on cdaschools.org. Public comment is generally not accepted during workshops and special meetings.

At 5 p.m. Monday the board will hold its regular meeting, during which information items of monthly financials and student discipline data will be discussed. The board is also expected to take action on two policy items — drug-free school zone and prohibition of tobacco/nicotine possession and use. Recommendations for elementary English language arts and secondary science materials adoptions will be considered.

Superintendent Shon Hocker will also present updates on the district's budget, strategic plan and student achievement.

Midtown Meeting Center is at 1505 N. Fifth St., Coeur d'Alene.
