One big check, two community giants.

Silverwood Theme Park donated $10,000 to Cancer and Community Charities (3Cs) ahead of its largest benefit event, the annual fashion show and dinner.

The "Passion for Fashion"-themed show will be at 5:30 p.m. May 15 at The Coeur d'Alene Resort. This is the 24th year for the show.

3Cs sponsorship chair Laura Chambers said the charitable group of ladies is proud to have Silverwood as its premier sponsor for the event.

"We're aligned on so many levels," she said Wednesday. "We’re very grateful for it."

Last year's 3Cs Fashion Show was its biggest yet, bringing in $55,000 that became part of the more than $111,000 the nonprofit distributed back to the community in 2022. Last year's recipients included the Alzheimer's Association, Children's Village, Community Action Partnership Coeur d'Alene Food Bank, Community United Methodist Church, the Kootenai Health Foundation, On Site for Seniors, the Rathdrum Community Center and more.

The 3Cs has several activity groups through which its members contribute dues and other fees that are collected throughout the year that also go into the money pool that supports the community.

“I always tell everybody, we pay to play,” President Ann Dare said. "We have fun raising money, and we really do pay to play — by playing golf, MahJong, book club. Each one of those groups, almost all of them, have a little bit of an additional cost attached, and that’s where we get our funds from. We’re up to 14 groups now, so there’s something for everybody.”

Silverwood public relations manager Stephanie Sampson said the Norton family, which owns Silverwood, appreciates the work done by 3Cs members.

“They always are very thoughtful, and they do a really good job about bringing everyone together and making sure that we’re all taken care of,” Sampson said. "It’s been a really meaningful partnership to the Norton family."

The fashion show will feature as many as 45 models of all types of beauty. Many will be 3Cs members. Local boutiques and styles will be modeled. Show chair Ruth Runkle said surprises will be in store for guests.

“We do have some new and exciting enhancements to the show,” she said.
