MILLER LETTER: I agree, but…
Marvin Miller gives us a great letter of wisdom with which I can heartily agree. Who can’t agree on the Golden Rule for families.
But in good faith, I feel compelled to cite some opinions he has expressed in a previous letter with which I really cannot agree. My opinion is that those opinions are based upon fear and exaggeration.
Our military is not in shambles. Our freedom of speech is not under attack. Voting fraud is far from real (many judges proved this). China’s balloon incident was not a “fiasco.” It was taken care of wisely. The Republicans seem to be plenty “in charge.” CRT is not rampant in our schools. (Even if it was, it would not be “destructive.”) Complaining parents are not considered terrorists. Inflation, although harmful, is not “destroying middle class,” only those much lower. Nobody wants to “eliminate cows passing gas.”
Have we gone stark raving mad? Well, perhaps some of us. While many things are “self-destructing” in our country, those are not them. The thousands of corporate conglomerates, huge factories, billionaire capitalists, banks, Wall Street, as well as the most social services accused by ultra conservatives as “socialism.” Most of the “social services” rely on capitalistic corporations. Health care is entirely dependent upon drug companies and insurance companies, et. al. So I would like to persuade Marvin to not despair, it could be much worse.
