Kroc lands grant for mental health services
COEUR d’ALENE — The Kroc Center was recently awarded a $7,500 grant from the Idaho Resilience Project to fund workshops and provide mental health services for children and parents of children ages 5-13.
“We are grateful for this opportunity to meet the mental health needs of youth and families who often can’t access these services due to cost,” said Jules Cosby, community outreach and education specialist.
The grant will provide subsidies for mental wellness services to individuals and families at the Kootenai County Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) threshold and below, allowing them to pay just 15% of regular rates.
The grant award will support a variety of mental health services including individual, group and family therapies, as well as parent-specific workshops.
“Many youth and families in North Idaho are in a mental health crisis,” said Tyson Durbin, youth and family support specialist. “For many, the stress is unbearable, and it is the kind of stress that breaks families apart.”
The Boise-based Idaho Resilience Project is focused on building regional collaboratives to help youth and families overcome trauma, economic uncertainty and systemic issues, and to discover access to services.
