HITLER QUOTE: Learn from history

| April 2, 2023 1:00 AM

Of course it was a newcomer complaining. And The Press took the bait and put it on the front page. All that was missing was the gratuitous quote from the HREI. Everyone is always so quick to be offended. Couldn’t you privately nurse your indignation, Ms. Hoium? No one cares what you think. The reader board often encourages looking to and learning from the past. When there’s room, they credit the speaker of the quote. Before BBB, it was Davis Donuts and many of us around here appreciate the “donut wisdom.”

I’m sorry BBB succumbed to the pressure and changed the board. People who complain about the speech of others always try to temper their complaint by insisting they support free speech, but they really don’t. The complainer here wants the speaker (business) to have “consequences.” What are those? This country is in the fight of its young life against fascism, socialism and communism. Isn’t the first time, as our military cemeteries on land and in the seas can attest, but this time it comes from within. We should never stop considering the world’s tyrants — past and present — and always be vigilant against evil. Crediting the speaker isn’t condoning the speaker. It’s a warning.

Finally, something like these words have been on the BBB reader board before: those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. If you read the board but must converse with the business owner to understand it, then you are part of the problem.
