HITLER QUOTE: Another Press ‘hit piece’

| April 2, 2023 1:00 AM

Most of my family died in the Holocaust. The only reason I’m alive is because my great-grandfather was let go from a concentration camp. As a Jew, he was given 24 hours to leave Germany.

So, I should have every reason to object to a recent billboard reading “To Conquer a Nation First Disarm Its Citizens,” attributed to Adolph Hitler.

The Coeur d’Alene Press just released a hit piece titled “Off Message” to shame Breaking Bread Artisan Bistro’s owners for exercising freedom of speech.

Before that, the Coeur d’Alene Press maligned the Post Falls American Legion for displaying a confederate flag.

Growing up, I learned: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

The reason I can object to the real tyranny the Coeur d’Alene Press condones daily is because I was exposed to our difficult history. It’s also because extant monuments enabled debate. Introspection.

“Off Brand” uses an ad hominem attack on Breaking Bread. Instead of discussing ideas based upon their merit, the Coeur d’Alene Press targeted a business.

We are meant to believe our republic is so brittle, our people so weak, we cannot bear to see the name of a dead tyrant or a flag.

Last year, newly disarmed Australia erected their own concentration camps to “protect” people from COVID.

Where was the outrage in the Coeur d’Alene Press when this atrocity occurred? You know the answer if you read this publication.

Don’t give in to cowards dictating pseudo-morality. We owe to it my great-grandfather. And future generations.
